There is really no such thing as "Alternative Medicine". There are simply things that work, things that don't, and things that await proper testing. Many well-meaning friends and relatives will have favourite remedies and cancer theories to share with you. Many of these are simply untrue. Some are dangerous. Most are driven by those whose sole interest is to make money from people who are desperate. If there was a simple solution for cancer the world would beat a path to the proponents. Oncologists do not have a vested interest in keeping valuable treatment information away from our patients. One very useful website for finding out if one of these proposed treatments is genuine or not is this one. It is highly informative, regularly updated and very accurate. This is a very comprehensive US site which is regularly updated and free from industry bias. Excellent up-to-date very reliable information from the top US government cancer body. Useful Australian site for those undergoing breast cancer treatment. This is the cancer information site for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre. This Centre, located in New York, is one of the leading cancer treatment hospitals in the United States. Many Australian oncologists have trained there. Generally speaking, the information offered here is reliable and impartial. However, there is some bias towards the particular clinical research programs which are being conducted at this institution, and, like all institutional websites, the information has been vetted by committee and therefore is perhaps a little "politically correct". The National Cancer Institute (USA) has a wealth of good information on everything from cancer research and clinical trials to supportive care. Excellent local information and very reliable up-to-date information on cancer treatments This is a comprehensive and unbiased American site offering good drug information.
